Muscat是英文(德文Musketeller),欧亚种,通常翻译成麝香葡萄。原产地中海东部沿岸,有近200个类别。往往生长在天气炎热的地区,适合酿造香气馥郁的天然甜酒,有着沉厚、芬芳的花香及棉蜜之果味。
白麝香,Muscat Blanc ,精确描述是小粒白麝香葡萄,是MUSCAT家族中最古老的品种之一,葡萄香气相对简
单,通常带甜味。它是最细致的麝香葡萄,葡萄粒非常小(在法文称为Petits grains),酿造出的酒通常带有柑橘或香料的香味。
白麝香葡萄在意大利称为Moscato Bianco,是意大利酿造Asti以及其他细致清淡的微泡酒的原料。在法国南部以及希腊也可酿成相当好的甜酒。
需要与圆形果实的白麝香区别的是品质较普通的亚历山大麝香葡萄,Muscat of Alexandria(Gordo Blanco,在澳洲称为Lexia,在当地只作为食用葡萄);在西班牙,亚历山大麝香葡萄被称作Moscatel,也是食用酿酒两用,果实形状呈椭圆 形。
澳洲产的麝香葡萄又甜又多酒精,相当浓稠,是以深色葡萄Brown Muscat 酿造而成。而Muscat Ottonel则是另一个味道比较淡的麝香品种,种植在法国的阿尔萨斯,保加利亚,奥地利和摩尔多瓦.(Quelle:http://www.vinesland.com)
